[DumB] is a community of fun loving CounterStrike players who aren't afraid to try out new things. Though many people call [DumB] just another CounterStrike clan, we like to think we are far more than just a clan - we like to be seen as a vibrant and progressive community.
At the moment, [DumB] hosts no less than 12 servers providing free gaming services to players all over Europe - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
On average over 102,000 players are recorded using our servers each and every month, racking up over 300,000 game sessions. On a normal day our ever-attentive admins ban over 25 unwanted players [racists, cheaters and other undesirables] to help keep playing with DumB enjoyable and exciting.
[DumB] primarily relies on its community to support it both in being one of the greatest CounterStrike communities there can be, and in maintaining the servers technologically and financially. Over time, people have joined us and some have left us, yet [DumB] lives on and goes from strength to strength.
When all is said and done, [DumB] is a great community, with great people, and that’s the end of that :)
Yesterday morning (the 29th) we had one of our central servers die on us due to a fatal hardware failure. This caused servers 1, 3 and 4 to be down for the rest of the day - but we have now gotten the machine replaced. Even though it is never fortunate to have servers down for the most part of a day - having the machine replaced and everything back up and running within 24 hours is not bad at all.

Unfortunately one of our central servers unexpectedly died this morning due to what looks like a fatal hardware failure. This has lead to CS 1.6 servers 1, 3 and 4 going down - and we are currently working on replacing the necessary hardware. We expect to have it replaced around midnight, but it might take a little longer if there are unexpected problems. Hopefully we should be back up and running for your gaming needs by Friday at the latest.
We have had quite a bad luck when it comes to our servers and this is sadly not the first time this has happened to one of our server machines. We are currently in the process of upgrading the older machines with new ones to decrease the chance of sudden hardware failures - and we are not far from completion. We are also looking into further improving our load-balancing and backup routines to minimize downtime in event of future failures. Even though we offer a free public service, reliable and stable servers is very important to us.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that both hardware and monthly server expenses costs a lot of money. We are dependent on donations from our community and players in order to survive - we need your support! A little while back Valve released something called steamcommunity. This is basically an extension of the friends system to include groups and improved tools for social networking. These groups allow communities such as ours to organize events, play together, chat together and so on.
We have a group set up for our community, called dumber, which is open for anyone to join.
Joining our group is a perfect opportunity to get to know some of the other players and community members, locate friends at our servers, participate in events such as testing sessions (maps/servers/plugins), community wars, fun games, competitions, tournaments, etc. You and all your friends are very welcome, and you are free to use the invite tool to invite more friends to the group should you want to.
